This morning I was on my way to Mitre 10 and as travelling along a particular 60k speed limit road which climbs a small hill and veers right, I came up behind a Commodore that was going as slow as a wet weekend, I can normally pull up that hill in 4th but with how this bloody Commodore was going I'm thinking back to 3rd soon but decided to squeeze the throttle as we hit the climb at very low revs, bugga me it pulled up there no worries, to the point I had to back off or I was going to hit the slow bloody Commodore. Hey, not accelerating madly but pulling quite firmly.
Hey Ross,

Just wondering how your egt's looked when you did this?

I find after the remap mine will do this quite well too but without the boost the egt's get high real quick.

Just returned from a 1096k trip to, around and through the Scenic Rim, so there were lots of mountains, valleys and rivers to cross (not much water in the latter though ;)), then across to Kirra for 2 days, so old girl got to do many and varied tasks over the last week.

If I was impressed with the Eclipse before I'm more so now, it just made the Patrol so much more pleasant to drive than it has ever been, able to hold low revs in high gears when I wanted and able to rocket up hills when I wanted to, the pulling power in 4th gear still amazes me for a little 3L, at 2 grand it feels like it has kicked back a gear on its own. Did the trip with an average fuel consumption of 11.8L/100, which I thought was quite good considering the terrain it covered.

I'm running top of 27psi (MAP keeps reminding me with MIL, must get that fixed one day ;)), in most conditions the boost hangs between 15psi and 22psi but give it load and it jumps to 27 and triggers the MIL, the highest EGT I saw for the trip was 450c on a long haul up an incline in 4th, I'm sure if I had booted it hard I would have gotten higher but it did it easy so booting it wasn't required.
Hi Ross,

Was your water/meth injection running up that incline @450c???

I have the same Safari snorkel as you do Ross. Was fitted to my 2003 fairly early in its life from what I can work out.
I bought the car from original owner in 2011.
Not until I saw the side by side illustrating just how small that safari is!!!
